At Appleby Arts Society, we're here to make art accessible to everyone. With a membership of over 100 individuals, we're part of a network of 360 societies across the UK and Europe affiliated with The Arts Society.
Our Journey
Our society was founded in 1993, and since then, we've been on a mission to bring the arts to life for people from all walks of life. We meet on the second Wednesday of every month at 11 am at the Appleby Public Hall, except during our summer break in June, July, and August.
What We Do
Our goal is simple: we want to spark your curiosity and enrich your life through the arts. We do this through engaging lectures and guided visits to galleries and historic buildings. You'll have the opportunity to explore various facets of the arts in the company of friendly, like-minded individuals.
Lectures for Everyone
Our lecturers are carefully selected not just for their knowledge but also for their ability to present art topics in an approachable and engaging way. Topics range from architecture, artists, and designers to China, glass, furniture, jewellery, music, painting, and more, spanning from ancient history to modern times. Our lectures last approximately 1 hour.
Connect and Enjoy
Before each lecture, we invite you to join us for coffee and a chat with fellow members. Additionally, there are charming cafes near The Market Hall where you can enjoy lunch with friends, making it easy to connect with others who share your interests.
